THERE IS another heavy week in store for Bradford City Women with the first team and reserves both in cup finals as well as important league games.

A 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest saw City go fifth in the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division and in a good position to close the gap on teams above them.

It was a tight game at Forest, who began the day one point ahead, but goals from Rachel Lee, after 16 minutes, and Hannah Campbell, in stoppage time, extended the unbeaten run for Steve Winterburn's side to nine games.

Tomorrow's clash with leaders Preston North End at Eccleshill United gives City chance to keep the pressure on the clubs above them. With only four more games to follow, a win would keep alive their outside chance of first or second place.

The reserves travel to Hednesford Town tomorrow to take on Blackburn Rovers in the Reserve Division Cup final, while next Wednesday the first team meet Leeds Ladies in the West Riding County Women's Cup final at Woodlesford.

It is also a big day tomorrow for last year's promoted side Guiseley Vixens as they host Nuneaton in a relegation battle that sees the visitors just one point ahead of Vixens in third-bottom spot with a game in hand.

Survival is a big ask for John Shirt's club but they showed their potential in a semi-final clash with Bradford City that they only lost in a penalty shootout.

Relegation is also looming large for Bradford Park Avenue in the West Riding County League Premier Division.

A midweek win for a rapidly-improved Gledhow saw the Leeds side move five points clear of Avenue, who were soundly beaten 6-1 by a revitalised Ossett Town side despite scoring first through Sarah Huby.

A win for Gledhow in their final game this week would leave Avenue, who are without a game, needing to win their last three to avoid bottom spot and relegation to the First Division.

The current First Division promotion race is a close run thing, with Battyeford Belles looking favourites to win it while Bradford City A, whose scheduled game with Battyeford last week was postponed, find themselves locked in battle with Leeds Medics & Dentists and Silsden for the runners-up spot.

With a League Cup final against Premier Division title chasers Tingley Athletic on May 1, the City A team will doubtless be mindful of that encounter when they go to Silsden tomorrow but they cannot afford to lose if they are to maintain their promotion challenge.
