FIELD remain top of the Premier Division after a 2-1 win against Brighouse Old Boys in the West Yorkshire League.

Chris Wood opened the scoring for Field with a 25-yard free-kick and substitute Tom Ponter increased the lead before Brighouse pulled a goal back to make it a tough finish for the leaders.

Baildon Trinity Athletic won their bottom-of-the-table Division One clash with Thornhill 13-1. Their opponents had travel problems and, as a result, could only field eight players.

Andrew Radosevic (2), Lee Mathers (2) and Elliot Moody gave Baildon a healthy half-time lead and second-half goals were added by Radosevic (2), Mathers (2), Darren Rands (2), Johnny Reynolds and substitute Ash Cooper.

Wyke Wanderers lost 6-0 against Wetherby Athletic. On a hard pitch, Wyke were no match for Wetherby's young side, who raced into a 3-0 lead inside half an hour and added another before half-time.

Wanderers continued to battle but too many heads went down and although Wetherby only added another two goals, this was the worst performance by Wyke for some time.

They now have to pick themselves up for their Heavy Woollen FA District Cup semi-final against Hartshead at Liversedge FC tomorrow.

Jack Webster scored the goal for Field Reserves in their Alliance Division One win at Boroughbridge Reserves.

But Wyke Wanderers Reserves suffered a 2-1 loss against Leeds City Reserves, with both of the latter side's goals coming in stoppage time.

In a game played in windy conditions, an even first half was separated by Hoi Pin Truong's brilliant goal after he ran from the halfway line before firing into the corner of the net.

Leeds City got on top but some great defending from man of the match Declan O'Regan and keeper Alex Whitson Smith kept them at bay until the 91st minute, when Leeds equalised from a free-kick. City then snatched the winner four minutes later from a penalty.

Wyke Reserves manager Gavin Coonan was delighted with the way his team played and was gutted that they did not get any reward.

* The West Yorkshire League will play in the final of the FA Inter-League Cup against the Teesside League after all.

West Yorkshire lost their semi-final 3-2 against the Spartan South Midlands League at Hertford FC last month but the latter league fielded an ineligible player not only in this match but also in earlier rounds.
