DANNY Lyons showed just why he is Farsley Celtic Juniors' leading scorer in the Yorkshire Amateur League.

He neatly finished three superbly-constructed moves as his side defeated fifth-placed visitors Stanningley Old Boys 5-0 in the Premier Division, taking his league tally for the season to 22.

Louis Surtees added a goal either side of half-time, one of them an absolute cracker, as Farsley increased their lead to eight points in what was their tenth successive victory.

Wigton Moor, who are bottom, felt they deserved something out of their 2-1 home defeat against Grangefield Old Boys, who climbed to sixth after extending their unbeaten run to four games.

Andy Kenyon, who Wigton were convinced was offside, equalised from Brandon Baldwin's inch-perfect pass with 20 minutes left – and the winner came late in the game when Wigton's keeper dropped the ball at the feet of Chris Cairns, who scored.

Calverley United remain top of Division One after a 1-1 home draw against second-placed Drighlington, although the latter side hold the whip hand as they are two points behind with four games in hand.

United took the lead in the 44th minute when Chris Coates' deep cross was hammered home by Tom Westerman but the section's leading scorer Shane Sowden replied 11 minutes later after being put through by Josh Sheldrake.

The main talking point, however, was the dismissal of Westerman for two yellow cards – his first in three seasons.

Jordan Northin's 17th goal of the campaign sealed a 3-1 home win for St Bede's over out-of-form Amaranth in the last minute, Northin and Matty Proctor having netted for the Bradford club – who rise to fifth – in the first half.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves have finally been beaten in Division Two after suffering a 4-1 reverse against Huddersfield YMCA, who have now won seven out of nine away.

However, YMCA are six points behind second-placed Celtic, who trail Gildersome Spurs by two points with a game in hand.

Fairbank United were overpowered 4-2 by third-placed Ealandians Reserves in Division Three, having done the double over them last season.

The double this time went to the sixth-placed reserves, although they trailed to a goal from 17-year-old Siam Khan and only equalised with an effort that United thought was offside.

Ben Bedford (2), Charlie Leather and Jack Scott gave Drighlington Reserves a 4-0 home win over struggling North Leeds Reserves in Division Five.

St Bede's Reserves won a 'six-pointer' 3-2 at Rothwell Thirds in Division Six courtesy of new signing Joe Keen, whose hat-trick took him to seven goals in three games, and a stern rearguard action.
