FARSLEY Celtic Juniors beat Rodillian 1-0 in the Marflitt Trophy quarter-finals thanks to a 20th-minute goal from top scorer Danny Lyons.

The strike was Lyons' 21st in all Yorkshire Amateur League domestic matches this season and enabled his side to confirm a last-four tie with neighbours Farnley Sports in another all-Premier Division encounter.

Rodillian worked hard, got men behind the ball and organised well but Farsley dominated possession and it was only a superb display by the Rodillian keeper, the woodwork twice and some wayward finishing that kept the score down.

"This game was the most one-sided 1-0 we have played in," confirmed Farsley manager Barry Thirsk.

Premier Division action saw Grangefield OB draw 1-1 with Trinity OB. Tyler Gill edged Grangefield ahead before Stevie Travers equalised.

Chris Cairns was the Grangefield man of the match for the third week running following a masterful midfield display.

Farnley Sports raced into an early 3-0 lead against Ealandians before capitulating and losing 4-3.

A fine brace from Andy Punter and a volley by Barry Danby appeared to leave Farnley in control but doubles by Josh Hans and Glyn Haley turned the tables.

In Division One, St Bede's were thumped 9-2 at home to second-placed Drighlington.

Saints led 1-0 and 2-1 thanks to Collis Robinson and recent signing Brandon Hammond but Drig were not to be denied as goals from Shane Sowden (4), Josh Sheldrake (2), Joe Hirst, Ben Garner and Rafel Sienkiewicz pulled them clear.

Grangefield OB Reserves lost 1-0 at home to Calverley Utd, where Rob Nicholson was on target with a 20-yard strike.

Unbeaten Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves won 4-0 at Woodkirk Valley in Division Two. Steve Wells, who has now scored 28 goals this season, claimed a brace, with Sam Ford and Alex Gyte also on target.

In Division Four, Shire Academics Reserves thumped Farnley Sports Reserves 7-1, while Drighlington Reserves lost 1-0 at home to East Ardsley Wanderers in Division Five. Drig are eighth after this loss, with Joe Collinson scoring the only goal in the 35th minute.

St Bede's Reserves beat Morley Town AFC Reserves 2-0 in Division Six as Kev Benson did the damage with a decisive double. St Bede's are third but no threat to leading clubs Norristhorpe Reserves and Morley Thirds.
