IN APPALLING conditions, Wyke Wanderers suffered a 2-0 Premier Division loss at Pool in the West Yorkshire League.

Both teams struggled to play any flowing football but Pool led when Wyke goalkeeper Ben Sharp saved a shot from a free-kick but could not keep out the rebound.

Early in the second half, Pool doubled their advantage when a cross-shot flew over the Wyke stopper.

Wyke secretary Dave Ryan said: "Our heads never dropped but we need to start picking up some points to take us away from the relegation zone."

Baildon Trinity Athletic were leading 1-0 against East End Park in Division One but the match was abandoned after ten minutes due to an extreme snow storm at Jenny Lane.

Louis France had edged Baildon ahead after only five minutes with a low shot from 20 yards.

The referee then made the correct decision to cancel the match after falling snow covered the playing surface.

Field Reserves came away from Otley Town Reserves in Alliance Division One with a resounding 5-1 success. On target for the winners were Josh Fawthorp (2), Tom Ponter, Kieran Suddards and Joseph Vickers.

Wyke Wanderers Reserves were leading 2-0 at home to Robin Hood Athletic Reserves thanks to a couple of penalties but eventually lost 3-2.

Wyke took an early lead when Hoi-Pin Truong was brought down in the area by the Athletic keeper and Michael Stowell converted the spot-kick.

Truong was fouled again in the box and Stowell again stepped up to make the score 2-0.

After the interval, Robin Hood levelled with two goals from corners – and despite sterling defending from the Wanderers defence, Robin Hood nicked all three points with a last-minute winner.

Field progressed in the West Riding County Challenge Cup with a 10-0 thrashing of Heywood Irish Centre. The scorers for Field were Nick Doherty (5), Josh Milner (2), Danny Nolan, Dan Cunningham and Aidan Day.
