BAILDON Trinity Athletic hosted Old Centralians at their Jenny Lane ground and drew 1-1 in Division One of the West Yorkshire League.

The visitors started the game with plenty of possession and their largely direct approach seemed to suit the conditions, with Baildon struggling to play their usual passing game.

Centralians could have been ahead at half-time but for some solid defending from the home side.

A host of fine saves from Baildon's goalkeeper Steve Sample, combined with a number of important blocks and goal-line clearances from central midfielders Danny Milner and Nick Wadsworth, kept the hosts in contention.

The second half proved to be a much-improved one for the home side with Baildon managing to create a few chances, the best of which fell to Wadsworth on the hour.

Striker Lee Mathers reached the byline before clipping the ball onto the head of the Baildon midfielder who directed it inches wide of the post.

Mathers also began to prove a handful for the away defence by creating himself a couple of good chances which were agonisingly foiled by last-ditch Centralians challenges.

With fifteen minutes left, Sean McVey whipped a free-kick into the box where captain Elliot Moody had escaped his marker and managed to direct the header into the top corner to give the home side the lead.

Unfortunately Baildon were not to see out the game.

With less than ten minutes remaining, a poor free-kick conceded by Baildon resulted in a ball into the penalty box and the away striker capitalised on some loose marking to give his side a point.

Wyke Wanderers Reserves switched their Alliance Division One match to a 3G pitch and they were rewarded with a 2-1 win against East End Park Reserves.

East End had the better of the early exchanges and went ahead early in the second half.

This setback galvanised Wyke with Jamie Underdown having a good game and it was he who drove the ball into the top corner of the net to equalise on the 65th minute.

Wanderers' Hoi-Pin Truong was causing all sorts of trouble down the right wing with his play.

With 15 minutes remaining, Underdown ran through to score the winning goal.

Wyke Secretary Dave Ryan said: "Due to a lack of matches with the poor weather, we tired near the end and our opponents almost equalised but they were denied because of a fantastic save from our goalkeeper Joe Haley."

Ben Baker, Liam Lambert, Tom Ponter and Joseph Vickers were on target for Field Reserves in their 4-2 home victory against Headingley Reserves in the Alliance Division One.

Field and Wyke Wanderers had no scheduled matches in the Premier Division because of the FA Inter League Cup.

The West Yorkshire League representative team beat Cambridgeshire County League team 1-0 in the quarter-final.
