AFTER weeks of waiting, FA Premier League side Guiseley Vixens now know their West Riding County Cup quarter-final opponents.

Five successive County Cup tie postponements had put their season on hold but Brighouse Athletic, from the West Riding League, finally managed to get their second-round tie underway against North East Regional League side Ossett Albion.

However, it finished badly for Brighouse as an 11-0 win for Albion secured that last-eight tie at home to Guiseley on January 17. There were hat-tricks from Nikki Swift and Kim Nallon as Ossett coasted home.

The full quarter-final draw is: Brayton Belles v Leeds, Brighouse Town v Tingley Athletic Reserves, Farsley Celtic v Bradford City, Ossett Albion v Guiseley Vixens.

In their last game, Guiseley travelled to leaders Nottingham Forest and gave a good account of themselves before slipping to a 3-0 defeat that leaves them still struggling at the wrong end of the table.

The weather once again intervened as Bradford City faced another blank week following the postponement of their Premier League game at Nuneaton due to a waterlogged pitch.

With the weather continuing to compromise league programmes everywhere, the only other game in the district was at Battyeford, where the Belles' reserves took on Hebden Royd of Division One in the West Riding League Shield.

Despite the visitors having only nine players, they proved too strong for Division Two strugglers Battyeford as former Bradford City veterans Nicky Davies (2) and Claire Popplewell got among the scorers for Hebden.

There are no women's fixtures over the Christmas weekend.
