IN ONE of the few matches to survive the wintry weather, Wyke Wanderers suffered a 3-0 defeat at Leeds City in the West Yorkshire League Cup.

Both teams played out a good first half and only a mistake let Leeds take a 1-0 lead into the half-time break.

As the weather conditions worsened in the second period, Leeds added two more goals to take them through to the next round.

Wyke secretary Dave Ryan said: "We never gave up but the weather was atrocious and both teams deserve credit for their efforts."

All other matches were postponed, including the West Riding County Challenge Cup tie between Field and Heywood Irish Centre.

The Division One clash between Baildon Trinity Athletic and Thornhill similarly fell foul of the weather, as did the Alliance Division One game between Wyke Wanderers Reserves and Otley Town Reserves

In the West Riding County Challenge Cup, Pontefract S&S against Field Reserves was also postponed.
