BRADFORD City's quest for an FA Women's Premier League Cup double was brought to a disappointing end at Stoke City – as their first team failed to emulate the reserves' success at Charlton in their League Cup competition.

Although City were leading after only four minutes – through American youngster Amanda Ellsworth – and added a second from Hannah Campbell to give them a 2-1 lead at the break, Stoke came back in the second half to level and then grab a winner in added-time.

It is back to the league programme today when City go to leaders Nottingham Forest, while at the other end of the table Guiseley Vixens face another relegation battle when they go to Nuneaton.

In their last game Guiseley drew 2-2 at fellow Loughborough Foxes to move off the foot of the table – being replaced by Nuneaton – and these games are the ones the Premier League newcomers must win if they are to hold on to their place in the top flight.

At Loughborough, Guiseley were a goal down after five minutes but debutant Savannah Berry headed home a Carey Huegett corner to equalise and almost repeated the trick soon after when Berry's header was diverted into the Loughborough goal by Nadine Bates.

The home side levelled in the second half, but Guiseley held on for the point that keeps them one behind Loughborough and one ahead of Nuneaton.

There is no game again for the reserves. Their scheduled game at home to Blackburn Rovers fell foul of the weather last week, but the A team – still leading the way in the West Riding League First Division – have a crucial game at Mirfield based fellow promotion hopefuls Battyeford Belles.

In the County League Premier Division, Bradford Park Avenue are desperate for some league action and have arranged for their game at home to Ossett Town to be staged on the 3G pitch at Thornton Recreation Centre (1.30pm).
