FIELD progressed to the next round of the West Riding County Challenge Cup following their emphatic 4-0 victory against Skipton LMS.

Danny Cunningham opened the scoring for Field who then created a few chances but the Skipton goalkeeper denied them with some tremendous saves.

The score was still 1-0 going into the 75th minute when Josh Milner came on as a substitute to increase the lead.

Another substitute, young Jack Webster, came off the bench to score a third goal for Field.

Webster then set up Cunningham to score his second goal of the match to confirm a handsome victory.

Field’s assistant manager Barry Dunne said: “After all the heavy rain, our pitch was just about playable with both teams playing well in difficult circumstances.

“Their goalkeeper made a string of fine saves and was rightly voted the man of the match.”

Brighouse Town Reserves crashed out of the West Riding County Challenge Cup after their demoralising 5-0 defeat at Pool.

Wyke Wanderers suffered their eighth defeat of the season in the Premier Division when they travelled to Shelley and were stuffed 5-0.

Shelley powered into a 3-0 lead inside the opening thirty minutes as Wyke never recovered and failed to seriously threaten the Shelley goalkeeper.

Wyke secretary Dave Ryan said: “This was a poor performance from an understrength Wyke team who fielded several youngsters.

“It was only poor finishing from the Shelley players that stopped them from making the score a total embarrassment.

“We have lots to do after this defeat and we need a response in next week’s District Cup match at home to Thornhill.”

The West Yorkshire League match in Division One between Baildon Trinity Athletic and Thornhill was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Jenny Lane.

The Alliance Division One game between Wyke wanderers Reserves and Otley Town Reserves was also postponed.
