DRIGHLINGTON advanced in the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield with a 3-1 win over St Mary's College from Middlesbrough.

Goals from Shane Sowden, Lewis Kendall and Josh Sheldrake secured the victory and a tie at Dewsbury Rangers in the next round.

Farnley Sports beat OB Grangefield 4-2 after extra time, Adam Butterworth claiming a well-taken brace with a header and shot which helped secure a trip to Rothwell in the second round.

In the first round of the Hancock Cup, Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves claimed a dramatic 5-4 win at Dewsbury Rangers Reserves.

Farsley went 4-1 up with two goals for leading scorer Steve Wells and further strikes from Jordan Hughes and Danny Kemp.

But Dewsbury came back to level matters at 4-4 before the prolific Steve Wells grabbed a last-minute winner.

In the Yorkshire Amateur League, Farsley Celtic Juniors won 5-3 at Leeds Medics, where a minute's silence was held in respect of Keith Sanderson, who successfully played for and coached Farsley and Gildersome Spurs respectively.

Danny Lyons was the star of the show with a well-taken hat-trick for Farsley, who are now second behind Farnley Sports in the Premier Division after overtaking Medics.

Division One leaders Calverley United drew 3-3 at home to Dewsbury Rangers.

Strikes from Mike Kelsey and Ben Binns earned Calverley a 3-2 advantage but Michael Thompson struck late on to level the scores at 3-3.

Meanwhile, Grangefield Old Boys Reserves played out a thrilling 5-5 draw with St Bede's.

Top scorer Jordan Northin grabbed a hat-trick for Bede's, with Grangefield scoring through Tyler Gill (2), Sam Russell, Daniel Cuff and Rhys O'Hare.

Division Six action saw St Bede's Reserves beat bottom side Thornesians 4ths 3-1 thanks to an own goal and strikes from Kalum Davey and Steve Thwaites.
