BRADFORD City head to Newcastle tomorrow for a testing FA Premier League North game but Steve Winterburn's side could not be in better spirits.

After a tough start to the season, a dramatic turnaround has seen them chalk up six straight league and cup wins.

They went to Stoke last week with September's 4-1 home defeat still fresh in their minds and were trailing 1-0 at half-time.

Undeterred, however, a superb second half saw them finish 3-1 winners to continue their climb up the table.

At one point it looked as if City's efforts were going to come to nothing but Rosie McDonnell, a 70th-minute substitute, grabbed an equaliser with 12 minutes remaining and they never looked back.

Leading scorer Hannah Campbell gave her side the lead with two minutes to go and Sarah Danby finally eased the nerves with another three minutes into time added on.

Guiseley's scheduled game against Sport Albion was postponed but they try again to record their first league point when they go to Shelley AFC to take on Huddersfield Town.

In the Reserve Division, City brought on Sophie Brown after only 22 minutes in the cup tie at home to Stoke and she fired them ahead soon after.

But, while it was the visitors hit back to level this time, a 72nd-minute strike from Katie Nutter secured a 2-1 win for Bradford.

While the first team go to Newcastle tomorrow, United's reserves are travelling in the opposite direction and City will be trying to halt their six match winning start in this division.

The West Riding League Premier Division has a strange look about it with Bradford Park Avenue having only played two games.

But their attention this week is a visit to promotion-chasing First Division outfit Battyeford Belles for a League Cup tie.

Battyeford Belles lost their first game of the season in the league last week, going down 3-1 at unbeaten Silsden, but Bradford City A still lead this division after a 9-1 win over Wetherby Athletic reserves.

In the other League Cup ties affecting the districts teams Silsden Development are at Leeds Medics and Dentists and Ilkley Town are at Premier Division Ossett Town.

Dewsbury Rangers go to Leeds side Republica Internationale, Third Division Skipton Town are at Premier Division side Brighouse Athletic and the Silsden first team face a tough tie at Premier Division Tingley Athletic.
