SALTHORN have taken advantage of the restricted programme in the Spen Valley League to climb off the bottom of the Premier Division.
Their 5-3 victory at Whitburn Athletic, only their second win of the campaign, moved them three places up the table.
Joe Brown and Stephen Kennedy both scored braces, David Goodchild also scoring, while Sohail Mahmood netted Athletic's three.
That was the only top-flight game played but the most notable result in the two First Division matches was Inter Batley's 7-1 win at Smokin Aces.
Raees Lorgat (4), Arshad Navsarka, Osama Ahmed and Abu Samad Patel were the visitors' marksmen, with Daniel Pandoor getting the only reply.
Howden Clough also triumphed on the road – by 7-2 against West End Park.
Simon Moore and Reece Scholes bagged braces, while Ryan Kerracher, Lewis Boddy and Dom Carr netted singles. George Garforth and Paul Lawson were Park's scorers.
