ALBION Sports bounced back from their shock midweek derby defeat to Thackley in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division in fine style with a 3-0 win at Parkgate.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men were set on their way in the first half via Omar Habib, who pounced after an Alex Cusack shot had been parried.

They doubled their lead after the break when Sam Bradley converted a Marcus Edwards corner at the near post, and sealed the win after taking a through ball.

Sandhu said: “It was important that we came back from the midweek result, and it was made easier as we had skipper James Firth back from injury and Matty Dalton. It was a comfortable win really.”

Thackley fared much worse as they suffered a 3-0 loss at Staveley MW to remain fourth from bottom, just three points off the foot of the table.

It was all over for the Dennyboys by half-time as Staveley’s Adam Scott gave them a tenth-minute lead before Connor Hastings netted a penalty on the stroke of the interval.

A Kieran Watson goal seven minutes into the second half wrapped up the scoring, and Dennyboys’ secretary Stewart Willingham said: “We suffered from unavailability of players again after two pulled out on Friday.

"It makes tomorrow's game at Nostell an important one now.”

Liversedge slipped to their tenth straight defeat in all competitions when they went down 4-1 at home to Maltby Main, with all the goals squeezed into half an hour in the second half.

Maltby raced into a two-goal lead with strikes from Joshua Nodder and Sam Forster.

Sedge hit back through Kevy Tazangadzo but Steve Hopewell restored the visitors’ two-goal advantage, and Jordan Poole wrapped up the scoring.

In Division One, a 3-1 win at Eccleshill United enabled AFC Mansfield to retain their four-point cushion at the summit.

The visitors took the lead following an unfortunate own goal by Jermaine Springer but the Eagles hit back through Adam Turner two minutes later.

The leaders hit two without reply in the second half, Dean Rick and Sam O’Malley being on target.
