YOUNG Declan O'Regan had a great game in defence for Wyke Wanderers Reserves in their 2-0 home defeat to Brighouse Old Boys Reserves in a hard-fought West Yorkshire League Alliance Division One match.
Wyke should have struck first when Ian Horrocks had only the goalkeeper to beat but his shot was palmed away, while, at the other end, young goalkeeper Joe Haley did well to parry a shot, only for the Brighouse striker to head the ball into an empty net.
Wanderers had further chances but the Old Boys went further ahead when a cross wasn't cleared.
Horrocks and Carlton Reid then had chances for Wyke but Brighouse finished the stronger.
Baildon Trinity Athletic Reserves' man of the match was Johnny Reynolds, who scored a brace, but his team still lost 4-3 at Leeds Modernians Reserves in Alliance Division Two.
Leeds went ahead but Reynolds volleyed an equaliser before putting Trinity ahead from a Darren Rands corner.
Leeds equalised before Liam Fothergill restored Baildon's lead on his debut but Modernians then scored two goals from set-pieces to take the points.
