FIELD need just one point from their last West Yorkshire League match of the season to be crowned Premier Division champions.

They put in a fine performance at Hunslet Club to win 2-0, courtesy of a brace from Danny Cunningham, and entertain second-placed Leeds City on Saturday.

Leeds must win their last three games while overturning an improbable 17-goal disadvantage to nick the title.

Meanwhile, Wyke Wanderers were promoted from Division One in third place after hammering Whitkirk Wanderers 5-2 in their penultimate match.

Wanderers opened the scoring after eight minutes with a fine shot from Ian Horrocks and Karl Fawcett made it 2-0 with a close-range effort before Whitkirk reduced the deficit.

However, Wyke restored their two-goal advantage through Horrocks before half-time and, straight from the restart, they increased the lead through Josh Brough.

Horrocks completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute, with Whitkirk getting their second goal five minutes from time.

Wyke secretary Dave Ryan said: "It has been a great season for our club and a well-deserved promotion to the Premier Division."
