PALESTINO have suffered a second cup final defeat in eight days in the Spen Valley League.

The Bradford-based club followed their 2-1 loss to Hightown Jets in the Spen Valley Memorial Trophy with a 1-0 setback against Route One Rovers in the Spen Valley Trophy, also played at Overthorpe Sports Club.

Man of the match Kamran Khan got Rovers' winner two minutes from time, and the trophy was presented by West Riding County FA chief executive Hannah Simpson.

However, Palestino's season can have a silver lining as they can deny Jets the First Division title.

Jets have one game left and can total 51 points, while third-placed Palestino have five games in hand on them and are already on 43 points, so only need to win three matches.

* Applications are still open for clubs wishing to join the Spen Valley League for next season, which will also have a development division for under-21 clubs.

The application form can be accessed via the league's page on the FA full-time website.
