LIVERPOOL legends Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have helped Salts Football Club and Salts Juniors Football Club raise money for their new changing rooms.

Both of the England internationals have donated signed Liverpool shirts – with Carragher doing so through his 23 Foundation, which gives youngsters in Merseyside the chance to fulfil their dreams through local charities, clubs and community initiatives.

Two new full-sized pitches have already been laid at Salts and the changing rooms are the next element in the £50,000 revamp (£28,000 has already been raised), with fund-raising being helped by raffling the shirts.

Baildon-based Mike Lepic is chairman of the 23 Foundation and runs it with his wife Gayner – both survived the 1985 Bradford City fire disaster – in conjunction with the Carragher family.

However, the main fund-raising element at Salts is the buy-a-brick scheme, with people able to buy a virtual brick for £10.

When the changing rooms are built, a poster showing all these donations will be erected.

A brick can be bought at https://www.facebook.com/SaltsJuniorsFC/posts/638281289550539 and further details can be found at

Salts Juniors were formed in 1991 with a small group of players but they now have over 500, many of whom are fans of Bradford City, Leeds United or Liverpool.

Players can start with the club at four years old – and Salts not only run junior teams but also under-21, senior and veterans teams.
