BRIGHOUSE Town Reserves made it through to the Lancashire League Cup final, courtesy of a penalty shoot-out victory over Harrogate Railway Reserves after the tie had finished at 2-2.

Railway took a 1-0 lead after ten minutes but suffered a setback when their goalkeeper was sent off, Isaac Baldwin netting from the resultant penalty to level.

After the break, Harrogate once again went ahead but a cracking goal from Tom Haigh levelled matters before the lottery of penalties.

Will Tolley, Baldwin and George Oakley scored for Brighouse but Matt Storr missed but as Harrogate had missed with three of their penalties or had them saved by Dan Ansbro, Brighouse went through to face Colne Reserves, who beat Stockport County Reserves, on Sunday, May 10 at Ashton United's ground.

Town Reserves' assistant manager Barry Thomas said: "We couldn't take advantage of our extra player as Harrogate played very well but we battled hard and can look forward to the final."

In the Northern Under-19 Alliance League, Silsden suffered a 4-1 defeat at home to title-chasing AFC Emley.

Silsden found themselves 1-0 down after only 30 seconds and it got worse after ten minutes when they conceded a penalty.

But the Cobbydalers finally woke up and created two good chances themselves when Josh Metcalfe and Ryan Narey should have scored.

Emley went further ahead just before the break but Silsden reduced the deficit when Ben Cox scored. On 65 minutes, Emley scored their fourth goal following a breakaway.

Silsden manager Steve Narey said: "Credit to my players who kept going, and the score didn't really reflect the match."
