TVR UNITED'S unbeaten record in the Spen Valley League Premier Division has finally gone.

Their 3-1 defeat at Bradford Athletic does not mean they lose their title favourites tag as they have three games in hand but it will give hope to top two Girlington and Route One Rovers, who also suffered a shock setback, ending the game with nine men.

Hasnan Naveed (2) and Waheed Khan were the Athletic marksmen, while leaders Rovers were beaten 6-2 at home by mid-table Vision.

Chris Benn netted for Vision with a 25-yard free-kick and a penalty, Chris Bower, with a peach into the top corner, Chris Lever, Lloyd Webster and Liam Hartley netted for Vision, who only led 3-2 at half-time.

It was also a happy day for bottom club Whitburn Athletic, who defeated visitors Smokin Aces 7-0 to record only their second league win of the campaign.

Craig Thomas (3), Kirk Taylor (2), Matty Proctor and Travon Thompson were on target for Athletic, who only trail Savile United now on goal difference.

The shock result in the Spen Valley Memorial Trophy was George Healey's 3-2 home win over Idle, for whom Ryan Mitchell and Thomas Holmes scored.

Division One leaders Palestino kept on course for a double with a 4-1 Trophy victory over visitors Howden Clough, with goals from Ben McCardle, Kenny Harland, Zubair Khan and Wayne Sparkes. Athletico won 3-1 at Norfolk in another tie.
