BRADFORD City take on FA women’s Premier League (North) leaders Coventry City, at Thackley tomorrow, with coach Steve Winterburn hoping for a positive response to the 2-0 defeat suffered in the away clash last month.

“Thankfully, we have an almost full strength squad to choose from,” said Winterburn.

“This wasn’t the case in the match at Coventry and we found ourselves up against it – against a very good side.”

Winterburn is very aware that another defeat would seriously affect City’s chances of bettering last season’s third-place finish and, with a series of cup games to follow, he believes confidence and concentration could suffer a serious knock if they lose again.

“Last season was magnificent for the club, at all levels, and we really want to at least match that if we can,” added the City coach.

City are third, having played more games than Sheffield (second) and fourth-placed Blackburn Rovers who are at Huddersfield Town tomorrow.

City still lead the way in the reserve section and will be hoping to consolidate that position when they take on Guiseley, at Eccleshill United.

North East Regional League title hopefuls Brighouse Town, with games in hand on the three clubs above them, go to Wakefield in their first game of the year in the Premier Division.

Farsley are at home to Malet Lambert in the hope of getting their Southern Division promotion chase back on track.

There are no West Riding County League fixtures this week.
