KARL Fawcett, playing his first game of the campaign after a pre-season injury, certainly made a difference for Wyke Wanderers in Division One of the West Yorkshire Association.

His superb cross gave Ian Horrocks the chance to put a glancing header into the corner of the net – and minutes later, after another Fawcett delivery, Ben Bodle put Wyke 2-0 ahead.

Opponents Altofts reduced the arrears after a defensive error but Bodle struck again before the visitors netted once more.

Fawcett took some of the pressure off with a tap-in to make it 4-2, although Altofts replied again before Aiden Day finally put the game beyond them at 5-3 as Wyke moved up to fourth.

In Division Two, Baildon Trinity Athletic came away from Kellingley Welfare with a well-deserved 5-1 win to climb to third place, which is a promotion spot.

Baildon opened the scoring inside five minutes via Ben MacKenzie, with Ben Craven's goal after a fine move making it 2-0 before half-time.

Kellingley pulled a goal back ten minutes into the second half and almost got an equaliser, Baildon defender Danny Jowett clearing off the line. But the visitors began to re-establish dominance, with Andrew Radosevic scoring from a penalty.

A second goal by Craven soon followed, which caused Welfare's heads to go down, and they were finished off by a Danny Milner header from a great cross.

Danny Walker scored for Field Reserves in their 1-1 draw at Headingley Reserves in Alliance League Division One.

They are in third position, six points behind leaders Oxenhope Recreation Reserves but with three games in hand.

Baildon Trinity Athletic Reserves lost 2-0 to Alliance Division Two leaders Horbury Town Reserves on a pitch that was not in the best condition.

Horbury took the lead after a mix-up between the Baildon defence and their goalkeeper, a visitor lobbing the ball over the keeper for an easy tap-in for their striker.

Baildon were playing well but, after missing chances, Horbury's class shone through just before the interval as they made it 2-0.

The hosts almost got back into the game in the second half when Will Hawksworth hit a shot from 35 yards which looked destined for the top corner, only for the Horbury goalkeeper to tip the ball over.

The Hall Green United Reserves v Wyke Wanderers Reserves match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, as was the Premier Division League Cup tie between Field and Oxenhope Recreation.
