A SPLENDID second-half display from Yorkshire Amateur League side Farsley Celtic Juniors earned a place in round three of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup as they saw off Sherburn White Rose 3-1.

Farsley were a goal down at the interval but Luke Kitson equalised after an hour, before a penalty by skipper Craig Farrand and a third goal from Luke Gordon secured a plumb home tie against Horbury Town of the West Yorkshire Premier League.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves were even more emphatic winners in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy as they triumphed 8-1 against Craven League hosts Sutton, with either Salendine Nook or Kirkheaton Rovers their next opponents.

Strike duo Danny Dalton and Louis Edmonds both grabbed hat-tricks, with Glen Jordinson and Louis Surtees completing the tally, while a Tom Green own goal was the sole reply.

Yorkshire Amateur League domestic action saw Grangefield crush Rothwell 5-0 to move top of the Premier Division.

A long-range Thomas Hall effort opened the scoring in the 19th minute and Ritchie Banks quickly doubled the lead.

Luke Hunter added two second-half goals, including a penalty, before Kev Brown netted direct from a corner in the last minute.

Calverley United suffered their first league defeat as they slumped 3-1 at home to Stanningley Old Boys Reserves in the Championship, despite taking an early lead through Ayrton Fontane when the wind and slope was in their favour .

St Bede's boosted their chances at the foot of Division One with a 3-1 win at fellow strugglers Gildersome Spurs OB thanks to goals from Collis Robinson, Kyle McGinnis and Andrew Scullion.

Grangefield OB Reserves bagged their first win by a matching 3-1 outcome at Sandal Wanderers, who have now lost their last four matches. Goals by Glen Metcalfe, Sam Russell and an own goal proved decisive.

St Bede's Reserves led 2-0 and then missed a penalty as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw in Division Two at home to a Huddersfield YMCA side who are also in the wrong half of the table. Admir Zenkovic and Jerome Yewdall netted for Saints.

The St Bede's third team suffered a shock 3-0 defeat at Old Batelians Thirds, who were previously without a point in Division Five.
