BRADFORD City face what could prove a season-defining month as they prepare to tackle the top two clubs in the FA Women's Premier League (North) and a derby match with Guiseley Vixens in the County Cup.

Next up for Steve Winterburn's side is a trip to last year's runaway champions Sheffield, currently in second place, followed by a visit to leaders Coventry City.

In their last outing, City collected three points from a tough game at Stoke when two goals from Molly Sharpe secured a 2-0 win that lifted them to fourth place. Wins in their next two games would establish them as genuine title contenders at the halfway stage of the season.

In the Premier League reserve division, City are looking favourites to go one better than last year's runners-up spot after a 4-1 win at third- placed Sheffield, with goals from Zoe Roberts (2), Abi Brown and Aqsa Mushtaq, left them with seven wins out of seven ahead of their crunch game at second-placed Newcastle United this week.

Mid-table Guiseley Vixens had a hard-earned 2-1 win over Chorley in Division One and they are at home again this week against north- east side Peterlee.

Bradford Park Avenue and Keighley Oaks both go into tomorrow's West Riding League Premier Division clash at Horsfall on a high following outstanding results in their respective County FA Cup ties.

Avenue hit back from 2-0 down to overcome visitors Hepworth United 7-3 with the help of hat-tricks from Sarah Huby and outstanding debutant Nat Bell, while Luka Dodds ran riot for Oaks – scoring seven in their 13-0 win against Amaranth.

Leaders Ossett Town take on Hemsworth at Spring Mill this weekend desperately hoping to get their Premier Division title ambitions back on track.

After a bright start, they have suffered successive 5-2 setbacks at Bradford Park Avenue in the County Cup and at home to Harrogate Railway in the league.

Despite goals from Leanne Barraclough and Angie Gaughan, injury-hit Town were never in the game against Railway. But coach Dan Robinson does welcome back top scorer Caroline Omboyi this week and the mood in the camp remains positive for Hemsworth's visit.

Many County League clubs were in League Cup action, where Battyeford progressed with a 5-4 win at Thornes after extra time but their reserves bowed out 3-0 at Castleford White Rose reserves.

This week joint-bottom Dewsbury Rangers go to Ilkley Town for a Division Two game while, in the same division, fellow strugglers Norristhorpe are at home to promotion-chasing Wetherby Athletic reserves and leaders Bradford City A, without a game last week, are at home to Thornes.
