THE West Riding County Cup dominates the women's soccer scene this week, with holders Bradford City opening their defence of the trophy at Brighouse Athletic still smarting from the 1-0 defeat at Sporting Club Albion last week that ended their FA Women's Premier League Cup ambitions.

Dan Robinson, formerly on the Bradford City WFC coaching staff, has led Ossett Town to a fine start in the West Riding League Premier Division and he hopes to take that form into tomorrow's County Cup tie at Bradford Park Avenue.

Town recently came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the league match at Bradford and they had to come from behind to win 2-1 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare in their last game thanks to two second-half goals from former Bradford City striker Caroline Omboyi.

Avenue are hoping to get their winning touch back after a second successive 3-2 defeat – this time at home to Brighouse Athletic. Sophie Mitchell scored the Avenue goals but Charlotte Reid (2) and Olivia Dangerfield won it for Brighouse.

Also involved in County Cup action are Battyeford Belles, whose first team and reserves face Regional League opposition.

The first team are at home to high flying Southern Division side Farsley, boasting a 100 per cent league record, while the reserves, from the County League Third Division, go to North East Regional League Premier Division leaders Brighouse Town in what is the equivalent of Bradford Park Avenue going to Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup.

Other ties affecting the district's teams are: Guiseley Vixens v AFC Gledhow, Tyersal v Republica Internationale, Leeds v Tingley Ath reserves, Keighley Oaks v Leeds Medics and Dentists and Brighouse Town (Development) v Silsden.

City reserves take on Guiseley Vixens at the Yorkshire Amateurs' Bracken Edge ground, looking to maintain their top spot in the Northern Division with a fifth win from five. In their last outing City took on an unbeaten Newcastle reserve side and completed a hard-earned 2-1 win with goals from Emma Dobson and Abi Barker.

In the reduced County League programme, Dewsbury Rangers are at home to Norristhorpe as both clubs look to hit back after recent defeats in Division Two.

Rangers went down 11-0 to leaders Bradford City A two weeks ago while last week it was Norristhorpe's turn to take a double figure beating as City ran out 10-0 winners to stay top, with four wins from four ahead of tomorrow's game against third-placed Wetherby Athletic reserves at Apperley Bridge.
