On the week of Shakespeare’s 450th birthday Bradford City Women’s Football Club have other things on their minds when they visit Stratford-on-Avon, the bard’s birthplace, tomorrow.
To be or not to be? That is the question City are asking as they prepare for the long trip to Warwickshire to face Cardiff City in the FA Women’s Premier League Reserve Division Cup final.
They have already suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune in their disputed semi-final fixture with Nottingham Forest, which saw them end Forest’s double hopes.
Having seen the first team suffer heartache in their FA Women’s Cup exit at the hands of Cardiff earlier in the season, the Reserves are now looking to avenge that defeat.
Meanwhile, the City first team continue their quest for the runners-up spot in the Premier Division (North) when they take on bottom club Blackburn Rovers at Thackley.
This is a game Leeds United will have a close eye on, for a City win is crucial to United’s survival hopes in the Premier League’s top flight. Leeds, in joint bottom spot, take on Preston North End at Farsley AFC.
Third Division Bradford City saw their A team complete the league season with a 5-3 win over their League Shield final opponents Wetherby Athletic Reserves to secure a 100 per cent record with over 100 goals in their 14 games.
