Bottom side St Bede’s caused a stir in the Yorkshire Amateur League by slowing down hosts Farsley Celtic Juniors’ pursuit of the Senior B division title as they earned a 2-2 draw.

Farsley led 1-0 at the interval after Sam Bradley converted a Craig Farrand corner but Saints, fighting hard to avoid the drop hit back to take the lead.

They equalised when a back-pass hit a divot and wrong-footed the Farsley keeper, before James Pace headed his side in front.

But Ben Cook nodded the home side level to take a point that keeps them two ahead of Stanningley OB Reserves, who won 2-0 at home to mid-table Shire Academics.

Mid-table Calverley United slumped to a 4-0 defeat at fourth-placed Leeds Medics & Dentists Reserves, with Alex Howard, James White, substitute Patrick Knight and defender Tom Dowsett on target.

Grangefield OB kept up their dogged pursuit of Senior A division title favourites Gildersome Spurs OB with a predictable 8-0 win at relegated bottom side Old Batelians.

Ritchie Banks bagged the first three goals for the second week running, with further strikes following from Andy Kenyon (2), Si Rothery, Tom Pickup and James Kemp.

The victory leaves Grangefield a point behind unbeaten leaders Gildersome but Spurs, who were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw at Stanningley OB, have played three games less.

Grangefield OB Reserves had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Amaranth Crossgates in Division Two as they continued the build-up to their Hancock Cup semi-final against Morley Town Reserves. A first-half Danny Fairbanks goal for the hosts was cancelled out late on by James Heathcote.

Heckmondwike GSOB slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Division Three promotion favourites Middleton Park Reserves, who had Joe Gott and Jack Duncan on target.
