Bradford City women on high for Heath trip

Bradford City edged closer to promotion to the FA Women's Premier League with a 2-1 win in a top of the table clash at South Durham and Cestra.

Still unbeaten in the Northern Combination, City are seven points behind new leaders Chorley, with three games in hand, but must guard against complacency when they go to mid-table Cheadle Heath this week.

After such a determined effort in their 'six pointer' at Durham when the home side equalised after going a goal down, a goal in each half from Faye Boshell won it, third bottom Cheadle have their own battle to fight and cannot be expected to just lie down for City.

Huddersfield Town, who go to Liverpool Feds for a mid-table encounter, were beaten 1-0 at home to Sheffield United Community in their last game and will find it hard to improve on their sixth place position but a County Cup final still beckons as they face a semi-final tie with Castleford in midweek.

The City A team had a good 4-2 win at Rotherham side Millers, thanks to two late strikes from Kerry McLoughlin, and hope to finish the season in style. Caroline Omboyi, with 9 first team goals under her belt, hit her first for the A side and Chelsey Faulkner scored the other. Keighley Oaks are this week's visitors to Apperley Bridge.

Other results in the North East Regional League (South) saw a weakened Ossett Albion slip closer to relegation when they went down 5-1 at leaders Doncaster Belles and they will be hoping for better at home to an improving Wetherby on Sunday.

Jo Atkinson was on target for Albion but goals from Charlotte Cork (2), Ellen Smith (2), and Sophie Brown moved Doncaster to within two points of promotion and left the visitors languishing at the foot of the table.

Rothwell remain favourites for the title after a 5-3 win at Malet Lambert made it 12 out of 12 and just one point behind Belles and they now go to Kirklees who continued their climb up the table with a 2-1 win over Keighley Oaks, Lyndsey Naden and Chelsea Norton scoring.

Ossett Town picked up a vital point in their 4-4 Premier draw at Hemsworth but still no joy for Cleckheaton Sporting, in the West Riding League Third Division, when they went down 9-1 at Skipton. Dewsbury Rangers drew 2-2 at Crossley and they now go to Ilkley.
