SILSDEN'S incredible run of victories since the start of the Hallmark Security League campaign continued with a 17th consecutive Division One win.

The Cobbydalers extended their lead at the summit to 14 points as they romped to a 4-0 success at second-placed Prestwich Heys, with in-form Joe Gaughan netting a hat-trick.

Gaughan opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark when the ball broke to him on the edge of the area and he drilled a shot into the bottom corner.

Silsden never looked back and the contest was over by the break following a magnificent first-half performance.

Heys almost produced an equaliser midway through that first period but a free-kick from Max White curled onto the post. Ten minutes later the home side lost possession and Gaughan raced through before netting another low drive.

Luke Rhodes made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time when he got on the end of a fine passing move, with man of the moment Gaughan claiming the assist.

Gaughan had another goal chalked off early in the second half when he converted Chris Wademan's cross, only to see an offside flag.

Minutes later Dan Illingworth was left in space and met a Mark Trueman free-kick with a solid header but he planted it against the post.

The second half was more even as the home side dug in but Gaughan completed his treble 11 minutes from time. Niall Sultan was brought down in the area and Gaughan netted the resulting penalty.

LIVERSEDGE bounced back from Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Maltby Main to earn three Premier Division points in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League with a 2-1 win at Hall Road Rangers.

Jonathan Rimmington's men had to come back from being a goal down, the home side having broken the deadlock through Josh Batty in only the second minute.

Joe Walton levelled ten minutes before the break and Regan Fish netted a second-half strike which lifted Sedge four places to 13th in the table. There is now just one point between them and tenth-placed Hall Road and Sedge have a game in hand.

There was disappointment for CAMPION in Division One as they slipped to 3-0 defeat at Shirebrook Town.

James Bicknell's men had leapfrogged Shirebrook at the weekend to climb back into the play-off places but the Nottinghamshire outfit, having lost 2-1 at newcomers Ollerton Town at the weekend, reversed the damage.

Shirebrook's win, thanks to an early strike from Joe Cheeseman and a brace by Declan Brewin, lifted them to fifth while dropping Campion to seventh, just outside the play-off zone.
