Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Rainworth Miners' Welfare 0 Albion Sports 3

ALBION Sports joined neighbours Thackley on 11 points from nine games in the middle of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division table with a win at Rainworth.

The Albion Lions had to patient but they finally broke the deadlock six minutes before half-time.

Good running and a great cross from Danny Facey presented the opening, and Steve Smith converted at the far post.

Midway through the second half, Facey and Alex Cusack combined well before the latter netted Albion’s second, and Josh Barden wrapped up the scoring late on.

Lions boss Kulwinder Sandhu said: “It was a good all-round performance and a comfortable win in the end.

"On the back of a good result in midweek (2-2 draw against unbeaten Pickering), we’re moving in the right direction on the pitch and in the table.”

Both Eccleshill United and Campion enjoyed wins in Division One.

The Eagles came back from a two-goal deficit to beat lower tier newcomers Swallownest.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead inside 18 minutes with goals from Jamie Hopkins and Alex Nightingale.

Ben Hardy pegged one back before the half-hour, but a second-half brace from Jonny Irving helped the Eagles to a 3-2 victory.

Campion also had a double scorer to thank for their 2-1 win at Yorkshire Amateur as Robbie Graham bagged a brace from the penalty spot.

The home side’s former Liversedge man Harrison Blakey levelled after Graham had netted his first spot-kick, but another penalty in the second half saw the visitors take all three points.

The Ammers stay second, immediately above Campion, but the points gap is now down to one.
