Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One: Winterton Rangers 3 Campion 5

CAMPION continue to entertain as they came back from a 3-1 deficit to win at Winterton Rangers in Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One, four days after snatching another three points from a high scoring game.

James Bicknell’s side remain third following last night’s victory, which was helped considerably by a hat-trick from Danny Cunningham.

That win followed a 3-2 home success over Hallam as they bounced back from a 3-1 derby defeat at Eccleshill United.

Campion showed their resolve last night after a dreadful start.

The hosts opened the scoring when Luke Anderson netted a fifth-minute penalty, and Elliot Broughton added a second in the tenth minute.

The visitors pegged one back before the half-hour, but Reece Newell hit Winterton’s third before Cunningham struck to send Campion into the break just a goal behind.

Ten minutes into the second half, Cunningham equalised and inside the last 17 minutes, Kieron Batey made it 4-3 before Cunningham completed his treble to make the points made safe.

In the higher tier, Albion Sports suffered yet again as a late goal from visitors Hemsworth Miners' Welfare gave them victory.

The Albion Lions’ boss Kulwinder Sandhu is frustrated by his side’s up and down form but has had to contend with injuries to key players.

Although they are looking forward to an Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round tie, after battling through three rounds, they are averaging just one point per game in the league.
