FARSLEY Celtic host Ossett Albion in their latest pre-season friendly on Saturday in what would have been a league fixture last season.

The Celts gained promotion from Evo-Stik Division One North into the Premier Division, leaving both Ossett clubs behind.

Farsley’s pre-season began with a 4-1 home defeat to York City, but new manager Adam Lakeland changes to the squad - some enforced as players left and some deliberate - are starting to gel.

He saw his side beat a young Harrogate Town team 3-1 and then hold Bradford Park Avenue to a draw last Saturday.

Lakeland said: “It was a week with a lot of positives and we’ve had three good training sessions since the Avenue game to work with the players on positioning and systems.

“Squad-wise, we’ve let two or three trialists go but we have another couple that we’re working with at the moment, but, to be honest, unless someone is outstanding there won’t be too much movement because we’re happy with the current group.”

Albion Sports will be hoping to have more players available for their latest game when they make the short trip to Yorkshire Amateur.

The Lions lost 4-2 at Silsden last weekend but had just half of the side that were competitive against Vanarama National League North Bradford Park Avenue in their previous game.

Albion boss Kulwinder Sandhu said: "Fair play to Silsden. They were the better side but it was difficult for us with five of our big players out.

“It gave us a chance to look at several trialists, and one of them scored. Some weren’t quite up to it but that’s what pre-season is all about. You can experiment and look at potential players and try different set-ups.”

Other games see Thackley welcome Campion, who are gearing up for their second season on the non-league ladder, while Liversedge are at Northallerton Town.
