ECCLESHILL United will be back in action on Saturday, fresh from their meeting with Bradford City, when they host Curzon Ashton in their latest pre-season friendly.

The Eagles walked away from their midweek clash against a strong Bantams team with their heads held high, despite a 3-0 home defeat.

They will face a different test this weekend but another tough one from Vanarama National League North Curzon Ashton.

Eagles boss Sean Regan said: “It was a solid effort against a good Bradford City side and, after the game, Stuart McCall said that we’d given them a good test.”

It will be a busy Saturday for the area’s semi-pro clubs as the build-up to the season intensifies.

Thackley will be smarting after their midweek defeat to manager Chris Reape’s former club Silsden, but that will just fire up the Dennyboys as they host Evo-Stik Division One Ossett Albion.

While Thackley are playing a club from a division higher on the non-league ladder, Brighouse Town face a trip to club from one step below as Vill Powell’s men travel to Thackley’s counterparts Bridlington Town.

Silsden will be buoyed by their midweek win as they host Albion Sports, another Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division rival of the Dennyboys.

Danny Forrest’s Silsden have put the hard yards in this week with games against Campion, Thackley and local side Ilkley Town on Saturday, Tuesday and last night.

Albion have had a week concentrating on training following last weekend’s home game against Bradford Park Avenue in which former Silsden player, coach and manager James Gill made his debut.

He will be hoping to be included against his old club as he makes his comeback to the non-league game after half a season in the Sunday League.

Liversedge have a home game against Northern League visitors Newton Aycliffe, while Campion are on the road at local league side Sherburn White Rose.
