Pre-season friendly: Campion 2 Thackley 2

THACKLEY twice took the lead at Campion in last night’s derby friendly but the home side earned a deserved draw.

The Dennyboys broke the deadlock seven minutes before the interval through Ryan Farrell.

Campion’s Scott Eastwood levelled before the hour but a Craig Bentham strike put the visitors back in front.

The Scotchman Road side were not to be denied, however, and Eli Hey hit an 88th-minute equaliser to claim a share of the spoils.

The major plus was that it was a good, competitive game and a great workout for both sides.

Eccleshill United’s Luke Harrop picked up where he left off last season by hitting a hat-trick in a man-of-the-match display at Golcar.

The free-scoring forward scored twice in the first half and added the game’s final goal after the break.

The first two were set up by Marcus Edwards, who has returned to the Eagles from Albion Sports.

The third was inadvertently an assist by Edwards as his effort came off the bar, allowing Harrop to slot in from close range.

Tonight it is the turn of Brighouse Town as they host Buxton in their latest friendly fixture - the Bucks play a division above Town in the Evo-Stik League set-up.
