Silsden players on weather watch

The big question for Silsden is, will they finally return to action after not kicking a ball in anger since January 2?

Everyone at the ASDA Foundation Stadium is hoping that their pitch is fit for them to host AFC Liverpool in the North West Counties East League Premier Division on Saturday.

However, they have had two home games postponed and two on the road also called off since their 4-0 away win at Padiham on January 2.

Assistant manager Danny Bolton said: “There are a few niggles from training and practice games but we are not too bad. Kevin Ryan has been the big miss this season though.

“Kev hit 11 goals in 12 games at the end of last season but had an arthroscopy in the close season. He was ready for pre-season and scored a hat-trick against Oldham Athletic in one of the friendlies but his knee flared up again in training after that and he hasn’t featured since.

“You are going to miss the goals Kev brings no matter who you are. Joe Gaughan, who we signed from Rotherham United, and Andy Lee have done well but we needed a fit Kevin Ryan for us to fulfil our potential this season.”

Thackley may be out of the promotion race in the Baris NCEL Premier Division for this season but they can make a statement when they host Parkgate.

Assistant manager Sean Regan spent his last game in the dug-out alongside boss Vince Brockie last weekend and is set to be replaced by reserve team coach Andy Patterson.

Brighouse are just above Thackley in the table and will be expected to maintain that advantage as they host strugglers Hall Road Rangers.

Town have won their last two league games, scoring nine times while conceding just once.

Mid-table Liversedge travel to Long Eaton United.

Sedge are not in the best of form, having taken one point from a possible nine.

Albion Sports have dropped from second to fifth in Division One after not playing a league game since Boxing Day.

Albion did return to action in midweek but showed a lot of ring rust as they exited the Wilkinson Sword Trophy with a 5-2 defeat at Grimsby Borough.

They will be hoping for a rare home game on Saturday as they are due to host Rossington Main.

Albion do have enough games in hand to reclaim top spot but they are set to face a very hectic end of season schedule which could be costly in their pursuit of promotion in their first year on the non-league ladder.

Rivals Eccleshill United also lost last time out but that was a home defeat in the league which damaged their chances of promotion.

The Eagles suffered a 5-2 reverse to Handsworth, who moved up to second after that result, so need to bounce back when they travel to Worsborough Bridge Athletic.

Manager Ian Banks has no new injury worries after rotating his squad for Handsworth game.
