Evo-Stik League Division One North: Brighouse Town 3 Ramsbottom United 2
BRIGHOUSE Town banked a fifth win from their last seven games in Division One North of the Evo-Stik League thanks to substitute Mohammed Ibrahim’s stoppage-time winner.
Ibrahim was introduced by Town boss Vill Powell in a double change just after the hour mark, with the home side leading 2-1 at the time.
Ibrahim scored after replacing Tom Haigh in Saturday’s 2-1 home win over promotion-chasing Prescot Cables, but even the manager cannot have expected him to net a second match winner on the spin.
Town were a goal to the good at the break after Adam Field had broken the deadlock, converting Danny Grimshaw’s corner at the near post midway through the half.
The home side were sitting pretty just minutes after the interval when Aaron Martin headed an Isaak Marriott corner past visiting keeper Sam Ashton.
The Lancashire side were far from finished though, however, and Jerome Wright slotted in to halve Town’s lead.
That was in the 57th minute, and just ten minutes later Rammy were awarded a penalty.
Midfielder Tom Brooks was fouled in the area and Gregg Daniels beat home keeper George Clarke from the spot.
Just as it looked as though the clubs would have to settle for a share of the spoils, Ibrahim went on a solo run into the second minute of time added on and lashed in a shot from outside the area that Ashton could only get a fingertip to as it flew past him.
