FARSLEY Celtic will be glad to be back in league action tomorrow after two gruelling encounters with high-flying South Shields in the FA Trophy.

The Celts were knocked out by their lower-ranked Evo-Stik League counterparts in midweek but Adam Lakeland is looking for a positive response when his side host Premier Division promotion rivals Workington.

The Farsley boss said: “We’re bitterly disappointed to have been knocked out of the FA Trophy but I am very proud of the way in which the players performed and the immense character we showed yet again.

“We’re having a bit of a bad run at the moment in terms of actually winning games, but in our last ten matches over 90 minutes we have only lost one and, although we aren’t converting the draws into wins at this time, we are a difficult team to beat.

"We have tremendous character and we will start turning these draws into wins again very soon I’m sure.

“After recovering in training yesterday we’re ready to resume our league campaign at Throstle Nest against a very good Workington side before we head to local rivals Brighouse Town on Monday night in the County Cup.”

Farsley have dropped out of the play-off places, after picking up just one point from their last two league games, but are sixth on goal difference only. They have just a two-point cushion on their Cumbrian visitors, who have played one game more.

Brighouse have a much worse points haul in Division One North and they face another daunting home game tomorrow against Trafford.

The Mancunians are ninth, just five points off the play-off places, while Town are third bottom and the five clubs above them in the lower reaches have played fewer games.

Town are attempting to come back from a 5-1 hammering in their last league game, at Hyde United – who take on MK Dons at home tonight in the FA Cup – and prior to that they exited the League Cup after a 4-1 reverse at Farsley’s top-tier rivals Marine.
