FARSLEY CELTIC suffered a surprise Evo-Stik League defeat but remain fourth in the Premier Division despite the 3-0 home reverse to Mickleover Sports.

The visitors got off to the best possible start as Pablo Mills converted a second-minute corner as he headed past Celts keeper Graeme McKibbon.

Promotion-chasing Farsley had their chances but failed to find an equaliser and Mickleover cemented their victory with a quickfire double late in the second half.

A goal from Evan Garnett in the 75th minute, when he rounded McKibbon and slotted in after being sent clear, set them on their way. Then four minutes later, Andy Dales was on the end of a neat one-two as he wrapped up the scoring.

It was a fine performance from Mickleover as the win moved them up one place to 17th in the table.

Celts boss Adam Lakeland admitted it was poor display from his side and said: "It was a bad day at the office after we'd been on a good run. We have to put it behind us and look to respond quickly."

BRIGHOUSE TOWN are in a perilous position as they slipped to 20th in Division One after a tenth league defeat this term, brushed aside 5-1 at FA Cup heroes Hyde United.

The Tigers, who are looking forward to a money-spinning televised home cup tie against League One outfit MK Dons, were 2-0 to the good by half-time and made it a nap hand after the break.

Harry Coates broke the deadlock in the 17th minute and Tom Pratt added a minute later. Pratt went on the bag a hat-trick with two goals in the second half, before Hyde's former Guiseley man Luke Porritt completed the scoring.

Matty Ord had netted Town's solitary reply when he rifled home a square pass early in the second half.
