Evo-Stik League Premier Division: Coalville Town 2 Farsley Celtic 3

FARSLEY Celtic leapfrogged hosts Coalville Town to climb to second place in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division after a battling performance at the Owen Street Sports Ground.

The Celts took the lead midway through the first half when James Walshaw was fouled in the area but got up to fire the resulting spot-kick past Ravens’ keeper Matt Coton.

Their lead was shortlived though as the home side’s Nat Watson shot past Farsley keeper Graeme McKibbon after picking up a through ball.

The Celts found themselves chasing the game from the 56th minute after defender Isaac Baldwin inadvertently turned a cross past McKibbon.

But Walshaw provided the assist as Farsley levelled eight minutes later, with Adam Priestley heading in the equaliser, and Walshaw was also involved in the winner, taking a Paul Walker pass and whipping in another cross that Chris Atkinson converted.

As Farsley moved up from fourth to second while the Ravens dropped from second to sixth, but just four points separate the top six clubs in the top tier.

Brighouse Town let a two-goal lead slip as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home in Division One North by Colwyn Bay, who were reduced to ten men for the last 30 minutes.

The Welsh outfit had Josh Brizell sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity as he brought an attacker down on the edge of the area. Town had already seen their two goal lead halved by then.

Gareth Grant slid in to turn a 52nd-minute corner past Town keeper Chandler Hallwood, which came soon after Town defender Adam Field had headed home a Rob Worrell corner.

It was Worrell who had given Town a first-half lead with a curling free- kick from a tight angle late in the first half.

Bay’s equaliser came nine minutes from time when Danny Andrews swept in on the rebound after Hallwood could only parry a fierce shot.
