FARSLEY Celtic’s season is in danger of unravelling after a third defeat in four saw them knocked off the summit of Evo-Stik Division One North.

The Celts headed to Bamber Bridge to take on a side they had beaten 5-3 at Throstle Nest just a week earlier but they couldn’t make it a league double.

Brig rattled in two goals inside the opening half-hour, and a comeback was unlikely after the Celts went down to ten men.

Leading scorer James Walshaw returned to the starting line-up from a four-match ban but didn’t last the first half.

He was dismissed for a third time this season after allegedly leading with an elbow in the 43rd minute.

Brig’s scorers were Chris Marlow and Josh Heaton, and it could have been worse for the Celts as the home side hit the woodwork twice.

Brighouse Town trailed 3-1 at home to Tadcaster Albion in the same division but Paul Quinn’s men rallied to snatch their 16th draw of the campaign.

Gregg Anderson had given the Brewers a third-minute lead but Mike Fish hit back immediately.

Goals from Conor Sellars and former Avenue striker Tom Corner gave Taddy their two-goal half-time lead but Tom Haigh scored minutes after the interval, and Adam Shaw levelled late on.

Thackley remain the highest ranked of the three local clubs in the top tier of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League following a comfortable 4-0 home win over struggling Armthorpe Welfare.

The Dennyboys’ Dan Broadbent bagged a brace either side of the interval after Mike Garrod had broken the deadlock, and Luke Robinson wrapped up the scoring.

Albion Sports also scored four as they banked another three points with a 4-1 win at Bottesford Town.

The Lions could have gone a goal down early on but young keeper George Clarke saved a fifth-minute penalty after Asif Hussain had fouled an attacker.

Although the first half remained goalless, Albion didn’t look back.

Danny Facey opened the scoring and Cusack and Karl Hall netted within minutes of each other after Elliot Broughton had briefly put the home side level.

Substitute Ferdinand Annor put the gloss on Albion’s victory in the last minute.

It was a mixed day for the two local representatives in Division One, with Campion suffering a home defeat while Eccleshill United earned a point on the road.

Campion found themselves 2-0 down after just four minutes, with Jack Debran and Paul Ashton giving Grimsby Borough a dream start.

Dan Cunningham pulled a goal back midway through the second half but the home side couldn’t complete the comeback.

The Eagles went a goal down early in the second half against Shirebrook Town, Jake Whelan being on target for the home side, but Luke Harrop netted a 66th-minute leveller.

Silsden enjoyed an away-day win in the lower tier of the Hallmark Security League as they beat promotion-chasing Whitchurch Alport 1-0.

A Nicky McNally strike on the stroke of half-time decided the game and knocked the hosts out of the top three.
