FARSLEY Celtic twice came from a goal down at a higher-ranking club to continue their progress in the FA Trophy.

The Celts were handed a tough second qualifying round tie at Evo-Stik League Premier Division outfit Barwell but the south Leicestershire club could not maximise home advantage as they lost 3-2.

Farsley enjoyed a positive start and created early chances but the home side had their first goal attempt on the quarter-hour mark and were in front two minutes later.

Owen Story cut inside from the wing and steered a shot past Graeme McKibbin into the bottom corner.

The visitors play their football a division lower in the Evo-Stik League but refused to be overawed.

They hit back just after the half-hour point when Paul Walker curled a stunning effort into the top corner – but parity lasted just over a minute as Story bagged his brace with a close-range tap-in.

Walker then turned provider as the Celts scored their second equaliser.

Just minutes before the interval, his low centre foxed everyone except Alex Davidson, who arrived late to sweep the ball in from the far side of the area.

Davidson made way for Lewis Nightingale in the 57th minute and the substitute ended Barwell's interest in this season's competition when he netted a neat volley.

Farsley's excursion in the Trophy cost them the leadership of Division One North as Glossop North End rocketed from fifth place to top spot with a 2-0 home win over BRIGHOUSE TOWN.

Paul Quinn's men had been second at the start of the day, behind Farsley only on goal difference, and headed to the Hillmen's Surrey Street ground knowing that a win would have taken them to the summit.

It was a close, tense game but, following a goalless first half, Michael Norton headed the home side in front from a 57th-minute corner.

Town threatened to equalise, especially from set-pieces, but with minutes remaining, Tom Taylor's kick-out was charged down and the rebound dropped for Jamie Rainford to slot past the Town keeper.
