BRIGHOUSE Town made a bold move last week when they announced that they had agreed a one-season contract with Paul Quinn.

The Town boss has been in the hotseat at the Hove Edge outfit for five years. He started before the 2011-12 season after succeeding Mark Brier, who had taken the club from the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division onto the football pyramid.

The young manager continued the club's progression up the non-League ladder by leading them to promotion to the Evo-Stik League in his third season in charge.

Quinn has always assured his players that he will do his best to help them fulfil their own ambitions and he develops them and never stands in their way if they get the opportunity to move to a club higher up the ladder.

Last season's players' player of the year Ryan Hall has left Brighouse during the close season with the best wishes of the manager and the club.

Hall has joined Curzon Ashton in National League North, so he is set to play against the likes of Bradford Park Avenue and FC Halifax Town.

Quinn has some targets in mind that he feels will improve his squad and he is also delighted to have signed his own one-year deal.

He said: "These are exciting times for the club in general. We are working behind the scenes to add to the squad and we are aiming to finalise some deals over the next couple of weeks and in the run-up to the start of the new season.

"Things are progressing off the field and we are set for a very interesting season. We have the nucleus of a very good squad and, with recent developments, we are now in a position to strengthen further."

Quinn comes from a footballing dynasty as his father and grandfather were both players and managers in their time.

Most recently, his dad Gerry was boss of Altrincham when the Cheshire outfit were an established club in what was then the Vauxhall Conference League and later in his career he had a spell as Liversedge manager.
