Evo-Stik League Division One North: Brighouse Town 0 Bamber Bridge 1

A LATE goal for visitors Bamber Bridge ensured the Lancashire outfit will end the season above Paul Quinn’s Brighouse Town in the table as the Roses rivals played their penultimate games at the Dual Seal Stadium last night.

Brig were immediately above Town in the table before the game, but on goal difference only after Quinn’s men won 3-1 at Kendal Town at the weekend.

The first half was a tight affair with few clear-cut chances, and Quinn had winning the game in mind when he made changes around the hour mark.

He left his final substitution and needed it late on when Leon Henry picked up a booking for a bad challenge.

The Brighouse boss replaced Henry in the 77th minute, Martin Allison coming on from the bench, to take him out of the heat of the battle.

The visitors were enjoying a strong finish to the game and had hit the woodwork three times before Alistair Waddecar grabbed the game’s only goal in the penultimate minute.
