FARSLEY Celtic slumped to a shock defeat on Tuesday night, with the Evo-Stik Division One North play-off places tantalisingly close, and they will be desperate to put that behind them when they host Mossley at Throstle Nest.

The Celts led 1-0 at struggling Radcliffe Borough with just 30 minutes remaining yet snatched a 3-1 defeat from the jaws of victory.

Jordan Deacey had hit the post in a goalless first half, and Lewis Nightingale scored directly from a corner at the start of the second period but calamitous defending, capped off by skipper Aaron Hardy conceding a penalty, cost them dear.

Farsley remain in eighth place, but after wins for play-off rivals Burscough and Clitheroe on the same night, they are now five points outside the top five with just nine games remaining.

The Celts have a far more impressive home record this term, so will hope to get back to winning ways against 11th- placed Mossley.

That would help neighbours Brighouse Town, who are immediately below the Lancashire side.

Paul Quinn’s Town make the short trip to Ossett Albion, and a win would return the favour to Farsley as the Unicorns are immediately above the Celts.

Brighouse had the best preparation for their clash as they beat Kendal Town 4-2 on Monday, with Danny Facey and Ryan Hall both bagging a brace.
