A SECOND-half winner from Jordan Deacey earned Farsley Celtic three points in Evo-Stik Division One North and lifted them to tenth.

Deacey struck in the 53rd minute at home to Ossett Albion to give the Celts victory, which was earned with a makeshift line-up.

Centre forward Aiden Savory was in as an emergency centre back, with Arron Hardy switching from right back to left to cover for the injured Ryan Serrant.

That meant Chris Howarth had to drop out of midfield to take the right-back spot but the changes didn’t stop Farsley bouncing back from their midweek home defeat to play-off rivals Burscough.

Ossett dropped out of the play-off places after their loss at Throstle Nest, while Neil Parsley’s men are now just six points off the top five with 13 games remaining.

Brighouse also have the same amount of league games left but their hopes of making the end-of-season extras are more remote after they suffered another defeat at the weekend to drop two places to 12th.

Paul Quinn’s Town went down 2-0 at fourth-placed Glossop North End.

The home side’s David Young netted an early penalty following a seventh-minute foul in the area, and Jamie Rainford latched onto a long through ball to slot past Town keeper Paul Hargreen just before the hour.

Brighouse were in the contest throughout and were denied by the woodwork in the first half and were on top in the opening stages of the second period but were left with nothing to show for it.
