FARSLEY Celtic misplaced their cloak of invincibility in midweek, and it brought an end their 14-game unbeaten run.

But the Celts’ first defeat since a West Riding County Cup tie at home to FC Halifax Town on November 3 was desperately unfortunate.

They drew 1-1 with Scarborough Athletic in a League Cup tie but lost 5-4 on penalties.

However, Neil Parsley’s men have the hunger and desire to put the frustrations of Tuesday night behind them when they return to Evo-Stik Division One North action on Saturday.

Farsley lost ground in the table in midweek, dropping to 11th while they were sidetracked by the cup.

They journey to Witton Albion, the club immediately below them, after a run of four games against clubs above them.

The Celts are in the mix themselves now following their magnificent sequence of results which brought 11 straight victories followed by two draws, they are currently six points outside the play-off zone but have games in hand on most of the clubs above them.

Brighouse Town climbed above Farsley with a midweek win which took Paul Quinn’s side to within five points of the top five.

Quinn’s side host fourth-placed Spennymoor Town at the weekend but it will be the visitors who are wary after Brighouse tore Droylsden apart on Monday in an 8-0 mauling of the Bloods.

The quality of the goals, which were spread around as Town had seven players on the scoresheet, including all three substitutes, was as pleasing as the amount, and their confidence will be sky high.
