Evo-Stik Division One North: Brighouse Town 8 Droylsden 0

BRIGHOUSE Town notched their biggest ever win in the division last night.

It lifted them back up to tenth, above Farsley Celtic, who are in League Cup action tonight at home to Scarborough Athletic.

Brighouse took a firm grip with two goals inside the first quarter.

Sam Hewitt broke the deadlock when he headed home a 12th-minute corner, and six minutes later Ryan Hall broke through before slotting in the second.

Ten minutes before half-time, Tom Haigh netted Town’s third following a rapid counter-attack after a Droylsden corner was well defended.

Town boss Paul Quinn was delighted at the break but his interval team talk must have been inspiring as his side were even better in the second period.

Just less than ten minutes after the restart, Hall bagged his brace to make it 4-0.

When Tom Robinson expertly lobbed the Bloods’ keeper soon after the hour,  the contest was well and truly over.

However, Brighouse were not done, and the substitutes proved they were all as hungry as the starting 11.

All three were on the scoresheet, with Connah Judson netting a 25-yard chip, Issac Baldwin volleying home from a Jimmy Pollard corner, and Kurt Harris wrapping up the scoring with a close-range strike in the penultimate minute.
