Evo-Stik Division One North: Lancaster City 2 Brighouse Town 1

BRIGHOUSE Town dropped out of the top eight after allowing a one-goal lead to evaporate in Saturday’s narrow Roses derby defeat.

Lancaster City made the most of home advantage at Giant Axe and came from behind to earn a victory that lifted them to 11th.

It was a difficult game for Town boss Paul Quinn as he had to make a change due to injury soon after the half-hour but substitute Mark Bett lasted just over 12 minutes.

Town took an early lead when Tom Haigh fired a good strike from outside the area into the bottom corner in the seventh minute.

Haigh’s day took a turn for the worse and he had to be replaced in the 33rd minute, former Bradford Park Avenue, Farsley Celtic and Guiseley striker Bett coming on from the bench, only to be substituted himself in first-half stoppage time.

The Dolly Blues were level by then after Tom Kilifin got something on a great cross into the area by Ryan Winder.

Lancaster midfielder Winder then weighed in with the winning goal.

Just four minutes into the second half, he curled an excellent free-kick into the top corner and the visitors toiled but couldn’t respond.
