Farsley Celtic 1, Northwich Victoria 2

NORTHWICH Victoria consolidated their lead at the summit of Division One North after edging a tight Evo-Stik League game at Farsley Celtic.

The first half was defined by two strong penalty appeals and the result was ultimately decided by calls from the man in the middle.

Referee Peter Henger waved away Farsley's claim when striker Aiden Savory appeared to be hauled down in the area midway through the half but pointed to the spot when Vics player Jordan Williams went down.

There were just four minutes between the incidents and there was a yellow card for Celts right back Aaron Hardy before Northwich midfielder Stuart Cook clinically dispatched the spot-kick.

Farsley manager Neil Parsley said: "I agree with the referee that their (Northwich) man was fouled – but if that's a penalty then so is the foul on Aiden at the other end.

"It's desperately disappointing that we got nothing from that game because I thought we competed really well against the top of the league. A draw would have been a fair result."

Lewis Nightingale levelled early in the second half but the visitors won it late on when Williams drove a ball into the area and a deflection wrong-footed Celts keeper Tom Taylor.

The cards shown at Radcliffe Borough were red as they and visitors BRIGHOUSE TOWN both ended with ten men as the sides played out a 2-2 draw.

Boro were awarded a 20th-minute penalty and Town player Dan Illingworth was shown a straight red before Sam McMahon tucked the spot-kick away.

The home side extended their lead through Tom Hulme before they had Jamie Forbes dismissed.

Danny Facey halved the deficit minutes before the break and Town snatched a draw with a little over three minutes remaining when Tom Robinson chipped the home keeper from the edge of the area after taking Facey's through-ball in his stride.
