FARSLEY CELTIC are still seeking the spark that will ignite their season after they exited the FA Cup following a closely-fought encounter at Witton Albion that finished 2-1.

Celts boss Neil Parsley said: "It was a tough tie – but then all the games are difficult when you're on a run of results like we've been on.

"But we created chances and competed and it would have more worrying if we hadn't, so there were positives we can take from the game.

"Their first goal came from a move where we thought Aaron Hardy had been fouled and the second was a spectacular overhead kick from a substitute who had only just come on. That sums our start to the season."

Witton took the lead just minutes before the break when Alex Titchiner converted Jon Dawson's cross.

Lewis Nightingale levelled for the Celts in the second half but parity lasted just four minutes as Jamie Matthews netted the winner following a corner on the hour.

BRIGHOUSE TOWN are also out after losing 2-0 at home to Northern League outfit Newton Aycliffe. Matty Moffatt and Dennis Knight were on target for the visitors either side of the interval.

But THACKLEY live to fight another day as they came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Abbey Hey.

Bradley Robinson and Jonathan Hardy gave the visitors a comfortable-looking interval lead but goals from Mike Garrod and Craig Bentham earned the Dennyboys a Tuesday replay.
